Dr. Ronald P. de Vries

Ronald de Vries leads the Fungal Physiology group at Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute, an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. The institute is one of the leading mycology institutes worldwide with the largest public culture collection of fungi and yeasts. The Institute's research programs principally focus on the taxonomy and evolution of fungi as well as on functional aspects of fungal biology and ecology, increasingly making use of molecular and genomics approaches. Research in the Fungal Physiology group has as main topic understanding how fungi use natural carbon sources. This research involves (comparative) genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics, molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology and cell biology.
