The research group “Industrial, Molecular and Environmental Biotechnology group (BIMA)” of Department of Chemical Sciences (DSC) at the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA) has a long standing tradition in protein purification, enzyme characterisation, gene and cDNA cloning, recombinant expression, random and site-directed mutagenesis and a consolidated expertise in developing applications of fungi and their (free or immobilised) enzymes. Recent research interests are: Discovery of new enzymes for development of bioconversions and obtaining of high added value products by both purification from novel strains and metagenomics; Development and characterisation of new biocatalysts by rational and random mutagenesis; Development of bio-systems based on fungi (solid state fermentation) and their lignocellulolytic enzymes for lignocellulosic biomass conversion; proteomics and metabolomics analyses.
